These meetings are open to any interested party. The committees draft
regulations and advise the EMCAB on policy. Participation from field providers
is important if we want to see regulations that reflect the concerns of field providers.

Boston EMS Pipe and Drum Band

Introducing the Boston EMS Regimental Pipes and Drums

On March 24, 1998, the first meeting of those interested in forming an EMS Pipe and drum band was held in one of the Boston EMS Academy classrooms. From this starting point, a group of dedicated EMT's and Paramedics have begun to practice playing Highland Bagpipes, and Drums in preparation for a performing, marching pipe band. All of the members are new adult learners in these instruments. Our mission is to advance and promote our chosen profession, to provide an air of dignity, and decorum to EMS related events, the most solemn of which are the memorials and funerals of Members, their families, and coworkers.

Now named The Boston EMS Regimental Pipes and Drums; The only EMS based pipe and drum band in the nation to date, the bands' members have worked for months in becoming proficient in the music at weekly practices. The Regiment operates independently, and is solely funded by its members, and the generous support of donations, and fundraising efforts. We are fast approaching the point when we will be considering Uniform designs, and eventually, public appearances.

Practices are held every Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 in the 6th floor of the Nursing Education Building, across Mass Ave. from BMCH. Enter through the parking garage on Northampton St., and come on up!

Currently, the Regiment is seeking new members to join in our efforts. No prior Musical experience is necessary, as all members are new, adult learners. Any EMS workers in the area are welcome to join the Regiment. All members have equal input as to the decisions of the Regiment. We would be proud to have representatives from all area ambulance companies amongst our numbers. If interested, please contact one of our members:

Paul Ciampa, President
Shelia Leahy, Treasurer
Ed McCarthy, Secretary
