Carnell, Pax Editor See Letter to College Students on page 18 “… people sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf…” “…the most grossly obvious facts can be ignored when they are unwelcome…” “..What you say or do doesn’t matter, only feelings matter…” – Quotes from George Orwell (1903-1950), author of “1984” “....still a man hears what he wants to hear, and disregards the rest…” –Simon and Garfunkel, “The Boxer” Dear College Students: W e saw you, and we heard you. “F#$% the Police”… right? On Tuesday, November 25 th , 2014, all of you marvelously, self-righteous, liberal college students from Simmons and Emerson and Northeastern and BU and MIT and Harvard marched in solidarity with the alleged oppressed victims of police brutality and against racism and for social justice.Yadda, yadda, yadda… Supposedly, you were outraged about the decision of a grand jury in St. Louis to not indict Officer Darren Wilson of the Fer- guson, Missouri police department, in the death of the so-called “unarmed teenager,” Michael Brown. The twelve jurors (nine white, three black, seven men, five women) listened to over 60 witnesses for 25 days over three months and unanimously decided that no charges should be brought against Officer Wilson. They were informed of autopsy reports from three separate pathologists, numerous witnesses, (some of whom outright lied and directly contradicted the forensic evidence and pathology reports…they should have been indicted themselves for lying to a grand jury…) and the testimony of Officer Wilson himself, who waived his right against self-incrimination to tell the truth as to what happened on that fateful August day in Ferguson, Missouri. But none of that seems to matter… No, you, our valiant, young 18-25 year old wonders who at- tend our local liberal indoctrination centers (otherwise known as “colleges” and “universities”) know better than the rest of us. You decided that blocking traffic on Melnea Cass Blvd./Mass. Ave. and causing grief for people who actually work for a living who were simply trying to get home before Thanksgiving was some form of protest against “the man.” (Geez, I’m trying to figure out who “the man” is, since our President, our Attorney General, and our Governor are all minorities, but what do I know….) This was your version of your graying, ex-hippie, Mommy and Daddy’s 1960’s
