Officers Brian Ball, James Conley, John Moynihan, Brian Johnson and Janet Lewis from theYouthViolence Strike Force were honored at this ceremony. H H H H H H H H H H H H H On October 29 th the Massachusetts PoliceAssociation recognized the following members with the MPA’s Medal of Honor. Detective Cecil Jones (BRIC) and Officer PamelaWilson (C-11), Officers Brian Ball, James Conley, John Moynihan, Brian Johnson and Janet Lewis, along with Trooper William Cameron (YouthViolence Strike Force) were honored at this ceremony. The Department joins the Massachusetts State Police and the Massachusetts Police Association in recognizing the bravery and dedication to duty displayed by these officers. H H H H H H H H H H H H H Captain Wayne Lanchester, Sergeant Michael O’Hara and Police Officer GeraldAjemian were thanked for the assistance they provided at theWest End House Inaugural Event. H H H H H H H H H H H H H Officers Perry Roy and George Billotte were thanked for their work with the Junior PoliceAcademy program. The letter was from a parent who praised the program and the learning experience for her son. H H H H H H H H H H H H H The Boston Police Honor Guard including Officers Matthew Hogardt, Michael Geary, Denis McCarthy and Jay Connolly were thanked for the assistance they provided at the funeral for a retired Boston Police Officer. H H H H H H H H H H H H H An email was received thanking Sergeant Detective Daniel Humphreys for the assistance and guidance he provided to a Mattapan resident. The family had an unpleasant experience, as a group of off road vehicles frightened the parent and her children while stopped in traffic. Thanks to the efforts of the unit to address this problem, the quality of life for many residents has improved. H H H H H H H H H H H H H Sergeant Joseph Leeman and Police Officers Joseph Glynn, James Lydon, James Scopa, William Zubrin, Kevin Ford, John Connolly, Denis McCarthy and Matthew Hogardt were thanked for the assistance they provided at the funeral for a retired civilian member of the Boston Police Department. His son noted that, “My Dad was an inspiration to many and loved being a part of the BPD organization. The outpouring of support and honors given that day would have overwhelmed him.” H H H H H H H H H H H H H A local pastor wrote to thank Captain Haseeb Hosein and Police Officer Tamara Espinola-Hodge for their support of the march during the citywide revival, noting “It was comforting to know as we marched, sang and prayed that Boston’s finest were keeping watch over us.” H H H H H H H H H H H H H A letter was received thanking Officer Carl Shorter for his participation in the Jamaica Plain/Roxbury Bike Tour. H H H H H H H H H H H H H A letter was received thanking Captain John Greland and Sergeant Detective Thomas Sexton for the assistance they provided to a local school and the principal with a safety plan. H H H H H H H H H H H H H A letter was received from a grandparent thanking Officer Jerome Smart and all of the District B-2 Officers for protecting and providing safety for children in Roxbury during the school year. H H H H H H H H H H H H H A letter was received thanking Officer Michael Jones for the assistance he provided to a family from New Jersey (a paramedic) who were in Boston for the treatment of a family member at a local hospital. The family expressed that his presence was a source of great comfort and support to them during a difficult time and the loss of a loved one. H H H H H H H H H H H H H A letter was received from a state representative thanking Captain AlfredoAndres, Sergeant Robert Twitchell and Officers William Jones, Antonette Ramsay and Rafael Rodriguez for their support of a community event at the South Street Housing Development in Jamaica Plain. H H H H H H H H H H H H H Lieutenant Matthew Spillane was thanked for providing assistance to the children fromMadison Park Technical Vocational High School Auto detailing program and providing guidance on job opportunities for youth. H H H H H H H H H H H H H Detective Santos Hernandez was thanked for his follow-up with a case and the assistance he provided to a victim. H H H H H H H H H H H H H Police Officer Joseph Nagle was thanked for the assistance he provided to a law enforcement officer and his family visiting Fenway Park from Connecticut. H H H H H H H H H H H H H Officer Anthony Cutone was thanked for the support he gave to a couple involved in a car accident. They appreciated the Officer’s presence at the scene and assistance that followed. H H H H H H H H H H H H H A letter was received thanking Officer Timothy Golden and Mr. Bill Stoddard, the Executive Director of Boston PAL for the assistance they provided to Saint Brendan School. H H H H H H H H H H H H H A telephone call was received thanking Police Officer Michael Flaven for the assistance he provided to an individual by changing a flat tire on her car.
