Page 56 • PAX CENTURION • Fall 2017 617-989-BPPA (2772) From Off on page 55 No days off… making German citizens from nearby cities, villages, and towns view the Concentration Camps. These sites of mass murder were photographed, filmed and filed away because as Eisenhower stated at the time; “Get it all on record now – get the films – get the witnesses – because somewhere down the track of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened.” H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H TodayAuschwitz stands as a silent reminder of what happens when hate rules. Here in the US, there are statues, flags, buildings, streets, roads, Universities, Colleges, Cities and Towns that represent or bear the names of our ancestors, Founding Fathers, and Private Citizens that profited from the institution of slavery. Is their destruction or removal going to change our history? I certainly don’t expect Harvard to do anything more than change the school logo. Harvard has an endowment valued at about $ 36.4 BILLION, grown from the seeds planted by John Harvard with money earned on the backs of slaves and indentured servants. Harvard “Crimson” is quite appropriate considering it was founded with blood money… H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H But I digress; where does this end? Are those clamoring removal of all vestiges of our past the “bastards saying this never happened”?? Hell, just look around Boston…JFK is immortalized on the State House. His liaisons are legendary and include Marilyn Monroe among others, should we tear it down because he lusted? General Hooker-popular lore claims his camp followers were labeled “Hooker’s Girls” later shortened to “hookers” referring to women of loose moral character. General Burnside- again legend has it that his hair style spawned the term “sideburns”. Sideburns are favored by hipsters, many of whom smoke and smoking is very bad…maybe instead of removing or destroying these monuments, we look to them instead to learn, to remember and move forward. You can’t change the past. It is impossible. But you can learn from it, and THAT is their lesson in today’s world… H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H NYC Mayor De Blasio flew off to Germany to join protestors at the G20 Summit. The Dem railed against President Trump on Foreign soil. Oh, and don’t forget, he left a day after a New York cop, Miosotis Familia was assassinated on duty, as well as skipping the NYPDAcademy Graduation. A true example of what a Democrat is all about. H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H A bit long-winded, I’ll admit, but there’s a lot going on, and most of it affects us, so thanks for your patience and perseverance if you got this far. As always, stay safe, spend time with those you love, and watch out for each other at work. S P O R T S By Bill Carroll See Sports Trivia Answers on page 58 1.
