PAX Centurion - Summer 2017

www.bppa.org PAX CENTURION • Summer 2017 • Page 37 incident consisted of lies created both for and by the gullible media who were themselves in desperate need of fulfilling their own anti- police narrative. But that false narrative – “Hands-up, don’t shoot” – was a contemptible, provable lie. Investigated by over 40 FBI agents sent to Ferguson by an overtly anti-policeAttorney General Eric Holder, it was quickly determined that the false narrative presented by the media did not occur , and those who continue to lend credence such to a false event – Mr. Serino and the Boston Globe included – are themselves, purveyors of lies. This demented man goes on to say that the flag represents “imperialism, racism, sexism, and homophobia” , and that “those who oppose these and other prominent elements of the US past and present should likewise reject [the flag].” Should anyone be aware of a “Go fund me” page to arrange for the permanent, one-way relocation of Mr. Serino and his fellow nitwits toVenezuela, Cuba, North Korea or Iran, please let us know so that a major contribution from the BPPA can be arranged. Idiots like him should benefit from their own heartfelt desires, and Kim Jong Un and the aforementioned worker’s paradises are always in need of qualityAmerican volunteer labor. But the truly shameful and pathetic ideology is that which exists at the Boston Globe itself, amongst the persons or persons who would print Mr. Serino’s emotionally- deranged diatribe and present it as some sort of valid point of view worthy of public discourse and consumption. Truly, they are the disease that eats this country from within; while Mr. Serino is merely a crusty, oozing symptom of the Globe’s sick, liberal theology. I n her June 22 column “Why the flap? Flag belongs to all of us” (Opinion), JoanVennochi chastises the left’s habit of ceding ownership of the flag to the other side. I think we should not merely cede ownership; rather, we should actively reject the flag as a symbol of progressive ideals. To many of us on the left who renounce the Stars and Stripes, the flag not only represents the reprehensible policies and rhetoric of President Trump. To us, the flag also represents US law enforcement’s consistent history of violently repressing popular movements, from Shay’s Rebellion in 1786 to protests in Ferguson, MO, in 2014. To us, the flag represents the brutal and deliberate genocide of NorthAmerica’s indigenous people. To us, the flag represents the imperialist tradition of US foreign policy to install and support authoritarian dictators across the Global South. And to us, the flag represents the enduring racism, sexism, and homophobia of American lawmakers. Those who rightfully oppose these and other prominent elements of the US past and present should likewise reject the symbol that has stood behind these disgraceful decisions and ideologies for nearly 250 years. DOMINIC SERINO, Salem (Reprinted from the Boston Globe, June 27, 2017) Deconstructing the American flag As a symbol of progressive ideals, the flag is useless Atlantic Liquidators is a well-established office furniture specialist dedicated to providing our customers with a first class buying experience!
