PAX Centurion - Summer 2017

Page 62 • PAX CENTURION • Summer 2017 617-989-BPPA (2772) Finally, this summer there will be a police officer somewhere who is fired for writing a false police report that was contradicted by video evidence. Back when I was listening toAlice Cooper in fourth grade, I could also watch Sergeant Joe Friday on the TV show Dragnet as he said “Just the facts, ma’am.” That is what you need in your reports. Just the facts. Not the fiction. Somewhere, an officer will stray from fact to fiction, and the lies in their report will be borne out by a videotape. Just the facts, you all. Of course there are positive predictions that I could make that surely will come true. You won’t read about most of the positive ones in the newspapers though. There will be heroics by police officers. There will be selfless acts. There will be bridge building in the communities. Most officers will do thankless tasks that help make the lives of the people they serve better, although those will go mostly unnoticed and unappreciated. Maybe one or two of you will even drive an ice cream truck. All of the positive predictions here will come true. Thank you all for that. Summer is a great time. It’s my favorite season. Hopefully I didn’t just ruin it for you. I hope you all stay safe and have amazing summers. Enjoy all the good that summer has to offer, but please protect yourself from the self-inflicted injuries that can occur in your profession. I am certain that almost all of my predictions for the summer will come true. Hopefully some of them don’t happen. You can’t control what other people do, but make sure they don’t happen to you. Make sure they don’t happen in Boston. Stay safe this summer, and please protect yourself as best as you can. From Summer on page 49 Ahh… the things that happen in summer The Law Firm of Scott D. Goldberg, P.C. is proud to continue supporting the Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association. Attorney Goldberg is honored to be the personal lawyer for many of its members and families for almost 25 years. The majority of our police clients are referred to us by other officers we have represented and with whom we have established close relationships. We fight for the rights of police men and women who are injured both on-duty and off, some of whom do not know that they have a right to a claim until they call us. The financial compensation we obtain for them includes lost pay – base, detail, and overtime – even when they receive Pay with Leave or used sick days. It also includes payment for medical expenses, disability, and pain and suffering. We are also excited to announce that we have a new website, at the same web address www. goldberglawfirm.net, which has more information about claims for police officers and insurance. If you, your family, or friends have been injured, or if would like advice about how to protect yourself and your family before an incident, then please contact Attorney Goldberg for a free consultation.
